THE MOONLIT LEDGER · A KEEPSAKE FOR YOUR BIRTH MOON

The moon you were born under, kept in a ledger.

Sean keeps a ledger of unfinished things. This is a page of it, written for your birth moon, with room for your own.

Sixteen illustrated pages: a letter from Sean, your moon read slowly across the counter, ledger pages for what you have left half-done, and every new and full moon of 2027 to tend it by.

FIRST, YOUR MOON

Which moon were you born under?

Every edition is written for one of the eight phases. Tell Sean your birthday and he’ll turn the cup.

Your birthday stays on this device: the moon is calculated here in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. We only remember which edition is yours, so the download page can find it. The phase is estimated at 12:00 UTC on that date, the same way as the café’s free reading.

YOUR EDITION

Choose a day, month and year. Your saucer is waiting.

THE SMALL PRINT, IN FULL-SIZED LETTERS

What the Ledger is, and isn’t.

It is

  • A real moon. Phases and every 2027 date are calculated with the open-source Astronomy Engine and checked against a second source, in Singapore time (UTC+8).
  • A story-shaped reflection. Sean’s reading is imaginative, a guess across a café table that you’re always allowed to tell him misses.
  • Made to be written in. Print it, fold it, spill a little tea on it.
  • Illustrated for the café with AI image tools, then corrected by hand so every moon shows its true phase.
  • The same price for everyone, all the time. There’s no countdown and no “only three left”. It’s a PDF, so there are plenty.

It isn’t

  • A prediction, a natal chart, or advice about health, money, love or the future.
  • Personalised by a person or a machine after you buy. Every edition is finished and the same for every reader of that moon.
  • A subscription. You pay once, keep the files, and nothing renews.
  • Part of the serial’s plot. It’s a companion keepsake, and you don’t need it to follow the story.

ASKED AT THE COUNTER

Questions

How do I get it?

After checkout you’re taken straight to your download page, which holds all eight PDFs. Bookmark it; it’s yours to come back to.

When it opens, checkout will take you straight to a download page with all eight PDFs. Until then, switch on “The Moonlit Ledger” in your Substack email settings and you’ll hear once, when it’s ready.

I don’t know which moon I was born under.

Use the finder above. It works out the phase from your birthday right here in your browser. If you were born close to a change of phase, your time and place of birth can tip it either way. That’s why all eight editions are included: read both and keep whichever sounds like you.

Why are the 2027 dates in Singapore time?

The café is in Singapore, and a moon tracker has to pick one clock. Each phase happens at the same instant everywhere; only the local clock changes. If you’re in London, subtract 8 hours (7 in British summer time). In New York, subtract 13 hours (12 in summer). Near midnight, that can move the date by a day.

Can I print it?

Yes, it’s made for it. Each page is A5 (148 × 210 mm). Print at 100% on A5, or choose “fit to page” on A4 or US Letter. Booklet printing on A4 folds into a little A5 book. Cream paper suits it best.

Do I need a Substack subscription?

No. The Ledger stands on its own. The serial is free if you’d like to read the chapter each edition points to, and each chapter is linked inside.

Who handles the payment?

Checkout is by Stripe, who sell the Ledger on the café’s behalf, handle sales tax and VAT, and send your receipt (it may say “sold through Link”). We never see your card.

Nobody yet: nothing is for sale today. When it opens, checkout will be by Stripe, who will handle sales tax and VAT and send your receipt.

What if it isn’t for me?

Write to us within 14 days and we’ll refund you. No questions, and keep the pages you printed.
